How to get to Heaven

My friend, God created you and everyone else on this earth.

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” : Genesis 1:27.

So what, you ask? Friend, this means that you are special in the eyes of God. And because you are special God wants you to know what is important.

What would you say was important? Your job? Who you marry? Where you live? These things have a great impact on our lives, but what about where you will spend Eternity? For God, this is the most important question in your life. You have one of two choices: Heaven or Hell. And YOU choose, not God.

Let me show you what the Bible says:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”: Romans 3:23 To disobey God is sin. Have you ever sinned? Of course you have—the Bible says that ALL have sinned.

“For the wages of sin is death”: Romans 6:23a There is a consequence of disobeying God—He is just, holy and righteous, and so He MUST punish sin. The punishment for sin is to go to Hell. Now think about that: all have sinned and if you sin you go to Hell. That means that everyone SHOULD go to Hell.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”: Romans 5:8 God loves everyone. To show this, His only Son died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin so that we can go to Heaven. That is love. Through Christ’s death on the cross a way has been made available for each and every person to go to Heaven.

What do you think God would want of you to allow you to go to Heaven? Being a good person? Doing good things by helping your fellow man? Being baptised? Going to Church? Would it surprise you that God is not interested in what you do, your works? This is because all that we do is tainted by our sin, and it is because of our sin that we should go to Hell. Here is God’s way, the ONLY way, to Heaven:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast”: Ephesians 2:8-9

Salvation, Heaven, is a GIFT . If you were to give someone a present, how would you feel if they wanted to pay you for it? You would be offended—and rightly so! So when we try and pay for our way into Heaven, which is a GIFT, we offend God. Why do we not ask God what He wants?

“but now commandeth all men every where to repent”: Acts:17:30b Repentance is understanding sin to be offensive to God and is a commitment from the heart to turn away from sin unto God and His ways. This will produce a change in your life.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”: Romans 10:9-10

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”: Romans 10:13

Here is what God says you need to do to get to Heaven:

acknowledge that you are sinner
repent of your sin
believe that Jesus Christ came as God in the flesh
acknowledge that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins that you might have forgiveness
believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and
accept Jesus Christ as your Lord.

This is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

God has paid the penalty for your sin. Now you need to choose: Heaven or Hell? Accept Jesus Christ and go to Heaven. But you need to make a choice … before it is too late.
